"I am reviewing the report issued by the Commission and have begun discussing its implications with local health care professionals, including SUNY Upstate Medical University President David Smith and Crouse Hospital CEO and President Paul Kronenberg."

"I fully recognize the need to improve and streamline our state’s healthcare system, and that tough decisions must be made to do so. But, I have concerns with how the commission’s recommendations will impact our local health care system and its ability to serve our community."

"For example, we must carefully consider how the recommendations could alter the mission of SUNY Upstate Medical University as an academic teaching hospital that serves a large portion of Upstate New York and also prepares the next generation of healthcare professionals. As this process moves forward, I will continue working with local health experts and other constituents to determine the best course of action."
