Weisenberg And Skelos Pass Resolutions For Long Beach Middle School's Chamber Orchestra And Jazz Band

WEISENBERG AND SKELOS PASS RESOLUTIONS FOR LONG BEACH MIDDLE SCHOOL’S CHAMBER ORCHESTRA AND JAZZ BAND

At the State Capitol, Assemblyman Harvey Weisenberg (D-Long Beach) and Senator Dean G. Skelos (R-Rockville Centre) met with students and teachers from the Long Beach Middle School on Tuesday, March 28. The Legislators passed joint resolutions honoring Ms. Jacqueline Scher for her exceptional work with the Chamber Orchestra and Ms. Elizabeth Altbacker for her outstanding work with the Jazz Band.

"Musical arts programs in our schools instill in our young citizens an appreciation for and a wonder at the beauty our world has to offer," said Assemblyman Weisenberg. "I am so proud to see our Long Beach students and their teachers displaying their talent in Albany."

"Having wonderful music programs such as these are extremely beneficial to the students of Long Beach," said Senator Skelos. "Talented teachers such as Elizabeth Altbacker and Jacqueline Scher have made the Long Beach Middle School Jazz Band and Chamber Orchestra the outstanding ensemble it is today."

In recognition of March being Music In Our Schools Month, the Jazz Band and Chamber Orchestra visited Albany and performed for the public at the South Concourse of the Empire State Plaza.
