Senator Farley And Assemblyman Tonko To Honor Amsterdam Rams In Albany

Hugh T. Farley

The Amsterdam Rugged Rams will be heading to Albany on Tuesday, January 31st, to be honored by State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R,C - Schenectady) and Assemblyman Paul Tonko (D-Amsterdam).

The local high school team became New York State Class A champions last November, defeating the Geneva High School Panthers by a score of 35 to 14. Senator Farley and Assemblyman Tonko have co-sponsored a New York State resolution honoring the team.

"Amsterdam has a great winning tradition on the gridiron and there was no doubt in my mind that the Rams would be victorious. These kids grow up teething on footballs and I believe their hard work and dedication throughout the years paid off," said Senator Farley.

Senator Farley and his colleague State Senator Michael F. Nozzolio (R-Fayette) had a friendly wager on the game between the Rams and the Panthers. When the Rams won, Senator Nozzolio gave Senator Farley a bushel of apples to share with his Amsterdam constituents.

When presenting the apples to Senator Farley, Senator Nozzolio said, "Your guys were tough. That quarterback (T.J. Czeski) was simply amazing."

Senator Farley is proud to announce that T.J. Czeski will also get special recognition in the resolution on Jan. 31st. The quarterback has been selected the Class A Player of the Year by the New York State Sportswriters Association.
