Senator Farley Announces Over $250,000 For Snowmobile Trail Grooming In Fulton, Montgomery, Saratoga And Schenectady Counties
State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R,C - Schenectady) is proud to join Governor George E. Pataki in announcing Fulton, Montgomery, Saratoga and Schenectady counties were awarded a combined $256,737.50 in grants for grooming snowmobile trails.
"This is terrific news," Senator Farley said. "Snowmobiling is so popular in these counties, a great winter pastime. Although the weather has been on the warm side, snowmobilers have been making the most of the snow and enjoying the ride in our area."
Funding for the grants come from the fees from snowmobile registrations through the State Department of Motor Vehicles. Fulton County was awarded $89,962.50, while Montgomery County is slated to receive $79,525. Saratoga County will obtain $73,125, while Schenectady County was awarded $14,125.
"Upstate New York is a great winter wonderland. By supporting the maintenance and grooming of trails, this program provides recreational opportunities for local residents and may also encourage other snowmobilers to visit the area, boosting the local economies while enjoying the winter scenery," Senator Farley said.
Senator Farley also took the opportunity to remind snowmobile enthusiasts of the planned Sled Across the Sacandaga event on Feb. 19th at noon. On that day, snowmobilers will attempt to break the Guinness Book of World Records for the longest line of moving snowmobiles.
