Farm Bureau Names Seward To "circle Of Friends"

State Senator James L. Seward has been named one of 104 state legislators toachieve Farm Bureau'srecognition as a member of its "Circle of Friends."

Farm Bureau, the state’s largest general farm advocacy organization, saysthe award is an indication of the individual lawmaker’s support of New York agriculture and the Farm Bureau.

"The ‘Circle of Friends’ award is based upon each legislator’s voting record on issues of importance to New York agriculture and other evidence of legislative support, including sponsorship of bills that Farm Bureau has either supported, or opposed, throughout the Legislative Session," stated John Lincoln, New York Farm Bureau president.

"I am honored to be named again to Farm Bureau's Circle of Friends," Senator Seward said. "I will continue to work for effective state policies that support agriculture, agri-businesses and family farms. Farming is still our largest industry, and the state must support programs that benefit farming and our rural areas."

The selected lawmakers were chosen for their strong support of New York’s family farms. Each "Circle of Friends" member has demonstrated that heunderstands the importance of agriculture in his legislative district, and how the industry impacts the economy and the future of New York State.

The "Circle of Friends" award is not an endorsement, and includes only the 2006 legislative session.
