Otsego County Woman Named To State Panel
Louisa Mary "Honey" Platt of County Highway 34, Westford, has been confirmed by the state senate for a term on the Board of Visitors for the New York State Home for Veterans and their Dependents at Oxford, Senator James L. Seward announced today.
Seward is a member of the Senate Finance Committee, which must consider nominations before they are acted upon by the full senate.
Platt retired as a clerk in the Otsego County Auditor’s Office and is currently Westford town clerk and tax collector.
She served for two years as president of the board of visitors and is currently secretary. She has been active in the Westford Fire Department and Auxiliary and the American Legion.
"I am glad that Mrs. Platt will continue to serve on the board of visitors," Seward said. "I commend the governor on his nomination and wish her well as she continues to make valuable contributions to the health and wellbeing of the veterans at the Oxford home."
The panel reviews the operations of the center and works with the director to make recommendations concerning its programs and policies.
The term expires in 2010.
The position carries no compensation.
