Senator James L. Seward today announced a special number for those who have already applied for state disaster assistance and would like to check the status of their applications.

Persons may call the following number:

Individual & Family Grants (IFG): 1-888-329-7540: This number is for those who have applied for the New York State Individual and Family Grants Program under Governor George E. Pataki’s flood relief program. The helpline will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Those who have not applied for available flood relief assistance, are encouraged to register as soon as possible by calling these numbers:

For New York’s State Individual and Family Grant Program, call 1-888-7-NYS-AID (1-888-769-7243) or TTY: NYS Relay 711. The State lines are open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. You can also register online at www.labor.state.ny.us.

For federal disaster assistance and for inquiries about federal applications, people should call the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) registration line at 1-800-621-FEMA (3362). Individuals with hearing or speech impairments should call (TTY) 1-800-462-7585. The lines are open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. You can also register online at www.fema.gov.
