Seward Urges Show Of Support For 9-11

Senator James L. Seward today urged area residents to fly their flags as a show of national unity on September 11 and in remembrance of those who died on September 11, 2001.

"Five years ago, the cowardly 9/11 attacks on America changed our lives forever. That horrific day, which claimed nearly 3,000 lives in New York City, Washington, and Pennsylvania, brought this country together like no other time before.

"In those early days following 9/11, our neighborhoods were bathed in American flags as citizens mourned these tragic attacks. Our American flag was the sympbol that bound us shoulder-to-shoulder, united, and helped us through the most difficult of times.

"This year, I urge everyone to fly a flag to displayour national pride and unity, even as we mark this tragic anniversary. On Monday, 9/11, I ask citizens of my districtto display the flag outside our homes or businesses to honor those who lost their lives, their families, friends and loved ones, and those who today are fighting at home and abroad to preserve our cherished freedoms.

"The spirit of America is strong. Let's share our pride and show our unity. Please fly the flag to remember 9/11," Seward concluded.
