Seward Wants Dot Intervention In Bus Line Service
State Senator James L. Seward has asked the state Department of Transportation to reject plans by Adirondack Transit Lines ("Adirondack Trailways") to terminate service to Haines Falls and Tannersville in the Town of Hunter. The company had recently announced plans to seek a permanent route change that would cut service to Haines Falls and Tannersville.
Seward sent a letter to the DOT's Transit Services Bureau asking the bureau to reject the proposed route change with its cut to Haines Falls and Tannersville.
"That gear has got to go in reverse," Seward said. "It's a poor decision to cancel the service at a time when the closing of Route 23A has complicated travelling for everyone in the area."
In a letter to the DOT, Seward noted that the route change dropping Tannersville and Haines Falls would hurt a community already negatively affected by the closing of state route 23A.
"Additional transportation methods need to be available, and the decision by Adirondack Trailways to end their service to Haines Falls and Tannersville couldn't have come at a worse time," Seward said. "I urge the DOT to reject the change."
