Bonacic Announces State Aid To Keep Our Families Safe

State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/I/C - Mount Hope) announced today that he has worked to secure State funding for police departments in Ulster County, totalling $375,000 to purchase much-needed equipment.

"It is crucial to support our law enforcement personnel and provide them with the tools necessary to keep our communities safe," stated Senator Bonacic. "State support is also important as it mitigates the need to raise local property taxes. Our property taxpayers are already overburdened, yet we all need police services."

The funding announced today will be allocated to the following Villages and Towns in Ulster County for their respective law enforcement agencies:

Senator Bonacic also noted that the Senate has enacted several key criminal justice measures this past Legislative Session, designed to keep us safe. Because of the Senate's action, New York State Law now; requires those who are convicted of felonies and certain misdemeanors to submit their DNA, eliminates the Statute of Limitations for rape, expands Megan's Law to include Level II sex offenders on the registry, and creates pilot programs in Ulster and Sullivan Counties to use GPS monitoring of sex offenders.
