Bonacic: Fire Departments To Receive Assistance

State Senator John Bonacic (R/I/C - Mt. Hope), today said fire departments in the Towns of Saugerties, Ulster, and Shawangunk will receive State aid through the New York State Senate’s Legislative Initiative fund. The following departments will receive aid:

Centerville Fire Department

East Kingston Fire Department

Glasco Fire Department

Malden West Camp Fire Department

Mt. Marion Fire Department

Ruby Fire Department

Saxton Fire Department

Shawangunk Valley Fire District

Spring Lake Fire Department

Ulster Hose Fire Department

Walker Valley Chemical Engine Co. No. 1

Wallkill Hook and Ladder Hose Company

Each department will receive $10,000 to purchase equipment. Last year Senator Bonacic secured funding for fire departments in Marbletown, Rochester, New Paltz, Woodstock, Wawarsing, and Hurley. He has also previously secured funding for departments in Rosendale, Gardiner, Olive and Shandaken.

Senator Bonacic is the 2005 recipient of the Firefighters Association of the State of New York’s "Golden Trumpet" Award. That award is given annually to the individual across the State who has done the most to assist and help volunteer firefighters.

"We must support our firefighters whenever we can. They are true heroes," Senator Bonacic said.
