Bonacic: Hudson Valley Residents Urge Property Tax Reform

John J. Bonacic

State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/I/C - Mount Hope) greeted Hudson Valley residents who came to Albany for a press conference to urge their Legislators to reform the real property tax laws.

"People are being forced to sell their homes and move because of the overburdening increases in property taxes, particularly school taxes," stated Senator Bonacic. "I was pleased to stand with these residents who articulated their message and the urgency for change."

Senator Bonacic spoke at the press conference and highlighted the proposals he has spearheaded to reform the property tax laws that will provide substantial relief to property owners. He noted that his bills have moved in the Senate, but that the Assembly has failed to consider any of them.

"The more vocal our residents are the better off we all will be. Without changes, no one will want to purchase a home and raise a family in New York State. In fact, we are already seeing the hardship on those with fixed incomes and the hardship our children face who want to buy a home and work in their own communities."

"I will continue to fight for property tax relief until we obtain satisfactory results," concluded Senator Bonacic.
