State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/I/C - Mount Hope) announced today that he has secured $60,000 in State Funding for the Delaware County Fire Training Center located in the Town of Hamden.

"Supporting our firefighters by providing the most current training technology and equipment is essential to the health and well-being of our residents," stated Senator Bonacic. "It is also essential for the State to provide that support in order to alleviate any potential property tax increases."

Senator Bonacic said that this particular funding is earmarked for the construction of a one story home to conduct primary and secondary search and rescue training as well as for a special interior to train firefighters to use self-contained breathing apparatus safely.

Dave Simmons, Chairman of the Training Center Committee, as well as a State certified fire instructor and Walton Fire Department volunteer, stressed the importance of a training facility equipped with the most up-to-date training technology. "We are truly appreciative of Senator Bonacic for securing this funding and his continued support. Properly trained firefighters and emergency personnel save lives and often prevent tragedy," stated Mr. Simmons.

"I was pleased to provide this funding for the training center. The dedicated, selfless men and women volunteers deserve our support and appreciation as they are on the front lines of keeping our communities safe and secure," concluded Senator Bonacic.
