Bonacic: State Funding Will Assist Orange And Sullivan Libraries
State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/C - Mount Hope) announced today he secured $65,000 in State funding that will be shared by thirteen libraries in Orange and Sullivan Counties. The aid can be used by the libraries to make capital improvements or purchase equipment. Each library will receive $5,000.
"Libraries are more than just repositories of books; they are vital community centers. I am pleased to continue to assist our libraries," stated Senator Bonacic.
Since taking office as a State Senator in 1999, Senator Bonacic has worked successfully to obtain over $2 million in State funding for the libraries in his District. In June of this year, Senator Bonacic secured additional aid for the libraries that sustained damage from the flooding. The libraries which will receive funding this year include: Middletown Thrall, Port Jervis, Bloomingburg, Delaware, Sunshine Hall (Eldred), Daniel Pierce (Grahamsville), Jeffersonville, Liberty, Livingston Manor, Ethelbert Crawford (Monticello), Tusten-Cochecton, Roscoe, and Fallsburg.
Senator Bonacic has also secured library funding for other parts of the 42nd Senate District including libraries in Delaware and Ulster Counties.
"Libraries can always use new technology and upgrade their facilities to better serve the public. I am hopeful that this added State aid will help libraries meet some of the unique needs their communities face. I will continue to support and advocate for the libraries in our Senate District," Senator Bonacic concluded.
