Bonacic: Supplemental Budget Bill Approved By Senate Includes $ 1 Million For Bethel Woods Center For The Arts
State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/I/C - Mount Hope) announced today that supplemental budget legislation expected to be voted on by the Legislature today will include $1 million for the Bethel Woods Performing Arts Center in Sullivan County.
Senator Bonacic successfully secured $7 million in funding for the project back in 2000. "Bethel Woods will be one of the most significant tourist attractions in all of New York State and will help revolutionize tourism in the Catskills," stated Bonacic.
The Bethel Woods Center for the Arts is scheduled to open on July 1st and will host performances all summer long. The New York Philharmonic will be the inaugural performance and is already sold out. The location of the Center is near the site of the renowned Woodstock Music Festival. "Residents and visitors alike are certain to enjoy this tremendous asset to the region," concluded Senator Bonacic.
