Statement From Senator John Bonacic On Cfe Ruling

"Today's Court of Appeals Ruling on the CFE case obviously sets the dollar amount for New York City schools well below what the Plaintiffs wanted.

"At the same time we are increasing aid to City Schools, we must also support our local schools. I have always said a Statewide solution is appropriate. It will be my focus to urge the Senate to provide permanent real property tax relief, not by tinkering with STAR, but rather by eliminating school taxes on people's homes . . . similar to what the Senate passed earlier this year.

"I look forward to working with the CFE litigants, Governor-Elect Spitzer, and the Legislature to make that happen on a Statewide level."
