Veterans Organizations In Delaware And Sullivan Counties Will Receive State Aid

State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/I/C - Mount Hope) announced today that he has secured $40,000 in State funding for the VFW Post 4947 Wurtsboro, the American Legion Guntown Post 1554, and the Veterans Memorial Hall in Monticello.

"The selfless and courageous men and women of New York State who have fought for our country deserve our support upon returning home," stated Senator Bonacic. The members of our veterans groups provide invaluable support services for their fellow veterans and their families."

Senator Bonacic said that $10,000 in State aid will be provided to the VFW Post 4947 for improvements to the facility. Commander Murray Cohen expressed his appreciation for Senator Bonacic's support and said that the State grant for $20,000 will be used to purchase equipment needed for the Veterans Memorial Hall in Monticello.

Commander Ken Morgan of the Wurtsboro Post said that among the improvements to be made are making the rest rooms handicapped accessible, and to assist with purchasing a new furnace. "We are grateful to Senator Bonacic for his steadfast support of our organization. The grant will enhance the VFW facility and hopefully, as a result, will attract new members and strengthen our group," stated Commander Morgan.

In addition, the American Legion Guntown Post 1554 in Delaware County will receive $10,000 in State aid secured by Senator Bonacic. According to Commander Spaccaforno, plans for the funding include building improvements and the purchase of equipment.

"As we honor our fallen veterans this Memorial Day, it is also important to appreciate and in turn, support the veterans here at home. They have served valiantly to ensure our freedom and our veterans continue to serve our communities," concluded Senator Bonacic.
