Senator Flanagan Visits With Northport Cub Scouts

John J. Flanagan

Senator John J. Flanagan (2nd Senate District) recently visited Cub Scout Den 2 of Bellerose Elementary School Pack 52 to talk to them about the New York State Legislature. The meeting was arranged by Den Leaders Polly Sullivan and Beth Darrell as part of the children's efforts to attain the Citizen Activity Badge.

During the meeting with the seventeen scouts, Senator Flanagan discussed his role in the state government and his responsibilities as their representative. During his discussion, Senator Flanagan told the children that most new laws stem from ideas supplied by community members and invited them to suggest new laws.

Afterward, the scouts had the opportunity to ask Senator Flanagan questions.

"Speaking to a group of children with so many great questions was very interesting. I enjoyed the discussion and was impressed by their knowledge of current events. This was a wonderful opportunity to discuss New York State government and show these kids how they can play a role in the legislative process," said Senator Flanagan.
