Senator Flanagan Welcomes Commack Student To His Albany Office

Senator John J. Flanagan (2nd Senate District) recently welcomed Commack resident and Farmingdale State University senior Jordan Henner to his Albany office staff. Mr. Henner will spend the entire spring semester in Senator Flanagan's Albany office working in the Senate Session Assistant Program.

As a Management Technology major, Mr. Henner will utilize his time in the State Capital researching issues, working with constituents and tracking the progress of legislation. For his efforts, he will earn 15 credits towards his degree, which he is scheduled to complete in May.

The New York State Senate has sponsored the Session Assistants Program since 1978 to provide New York students with the opportunity to gain real experience in the legislative branch of New York State. Mr. Henner is the first student from Farmingdale State University to be accepted to the program and one of only 35 interns chosen for the 2006 legislative session throughout the state.

"This opportunity will give me the experience I need to make an informed decision about my future. Working behind the scenes of public policy is a fascinating and rare opportunity," said Mr. Henner.

"The Senate program is dedicated to furnishing New York students with a working knowledge of the legislative process. I welcome Jordan to Albany and hope that this will be a positive and useful experience for him," stated Senator Flanagan.
