Serrano Celebrates Poet Julia De Burgos

          New York, July, 31- Senator Serrano, (D-Manhattan/Bronx), joined residents of East Harlem and HOPE Community, Inc. to announce the Julia De Burgos Mosaic project. The mosaic honoring the late author and poet will be created by local artist Manny Vega. Members of the community were able to privately raise funds to finance the cultural venture.

          "It brings me great joy to see the people of this community come together behind such an amazing project. This will no doubt further enhance this community and add another cultural gem to our neighborhood. I hope that we can all continue working together to continue bringing such great works of art right here to East Harlem," said Senator Serrano.

           The Senator assisted the project by helping identify potential donors for the cause. An ardent believe in the profound impact the arts can have on a community, the Senator urged the everyone to continue banding together and work to establish projects such as the Julia De Burgos mosaic in the future.
