Senator Joe Robach and Greece Supervisor John Auberger today announced a $350,000 state grant to assist with the construction of the Greece Community and Senior Center at the Town Hall campus.
The grant obtained by Senator Robach will be used to assist with construction cost of the center, purchasing equipment for the senior lounge and the transportation infrastructure at the Town Hall campus.
"I was happy to secure this funding for our soon to be completed state of the art center," stated Senator Robach. "This new facility will be an important asset to our community. It will benefit Greece residents of all ages."
The community center will be located in the geographic center of Greece on the Town Hall Campus. When completed, the center will be approximately 35,000 square feet, two stories high and connected to Town Hall via an enclosed walkway. It will also be on a RGRTA bus route.
"Greece is fortunate to have a great legislative team working for us in Albany," said Supervisor Auberger. "Joe Robach and Bill Reilich have proven time after time that they are committed to helping local government. Today’s announcement will help us improve the services we offer and I am thankful for their efforts on our behalf."
The center will include expanded parking, automatic doors, a 7,800 square foot gymnasium, a multi-purpose room which can be divided into three separate rooms - Art, Activity/Dance, Programmed Fitness, women’s and men’s locker rooms, family locker room, second floor walking track and conference rooms.
It is estimated that the Greece Community Center will be completed in Spring of 2006.
