10 Additional Computers At Our Lady Of Grace School Thanks To New York Power Authority And Senator Marty Golden

Brooklyn- State Senator Marty Golden (R-C, Brooklyn), and officials from the New York Power Authority, last week visited Our Lady of Grace School, located at 385 Avenue W in Brooklyn, following a recent donation of 10 refurbished computers to the school. Senator Golden was joined by Joseph Leary, the Director of Public & Governmental Affairs for the Southeast New York Region of the New York Power Authority, and Niko P. Ladopoulos, Legislative Liasion for the New York Power Authority, while greeting students in classrooms already utilizing the computers. Our Lady of Grace Principal Joan McMaster welcomed Senator Golden and the New York Power Authority.

The computers donated to Our Lady of Grace school were provided through a state law that created a program authorizing the New York Power Authority to provided refurbished computers to educational institutions across New York State. The reconditioning of surplus computers includes thorough cleaning of the new equipment, replacement of any broken or missing parts, as well as the installation of a new operating system and at least 128 megabytes of memory. Since 2002, some 500 computers have been reconditioned and distributed throughout New York State.

"Computers are an essential resource in today’s technology driven learning environment," said Senator Golden. "The donation of these computers will help our young students at Our Lady of Grace prepare for tomorrow’s educational challenges today."

"Thanks to Senator Golden, the smart re-use of these donated computers will provide our students with tools to help them compete academically and individually in a complex society."
