Senator Marty Golden stated, "Come out and line the parade route with your stars and stripes, your American Flag. Tell your family, your friends and your neighbors. Our brave troops are coming to Brooklyn. Let's show our heroes, our Armed Forces, that we love them and that we thank them for all they have done to protect us from evil. Their bravery is our strength. Let us be the ones to cheer loud for them and to welcome them to Brooklyn."
Golden continued, "For these men and women who have been wounded in combat, we owe much to them. It is their sacrifice that allows us to live in freedom, with our rights, and with our liberties. May we never forget this sacrifice, may we never forget that our soldiers protect us, and may we never forget that without a strong defense, our nation can not exist and defend ourselves against those who are jealous of our democracy."
