Golden Statement On Funding Allocation To Public School 207

Martin J. Golden

Brooklyn- State Senator Marty Golden (R-C-I, 22nd District) today proclaimed, "School is Open at P.S. 207", following an announcement made by Mayor Michael Bloomberg indicating that the funding for the expansion of Public School 207, to include classroom space at the recently closed St. Thomas Aquinas School, will be made available from the City of New York. As a result, P.S. 207, located at 4011 Fillmore Avenue in the Marine Park section of Brooklyn, will be converted to a K-8 school as originally planned.

Senator Marty Golden stated, "Thank you to a great team effort of parents, students, the Department of Education, Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Deputy Mayor Dennis Walcott, and the entire community, P.S. 207’s expansion project has been funded and K-8 Classes will be offered. The children of this community and their families are the winners today, and now, as we look to the future, we must continue to advance the educational opportunities available."

Golden continued, "I am proud that the town hall meeting I hosted in January spurred this allocation and brought about a positive resolution. I promised the parents and the school community that we would find the funding necessary to allow this project to move forward on schedule, and I did not let them down. The education of our students has been and continues to be my priority."
