Parents Of St. Bernadette's To Join Grassroots Movement And Rally In Support Of Golden's Education Tax Credit

Brooklyn- Parents of the student body of Brooklyn’s St. Bernadette’s will join the grassroots movement and rally in support of Senator Golden’s Education Tax Credit legislation which is presently before the New York State Legislature on Thursday, February 2, 2006, at 7:00 p.m. in the St. Bernadette’s School Auditorium, located at 1313 83rd Street, in Brooklyn.

Golden’s legislation would provide qualified taxpayers, parents and dependents of those grade K-12 attending elementary and secondary schools, or those receiving home instruction, an annual tax credit of up to $1500 per dependent or $3,000 per family. The income tax credit would be available to all parents of public, parochial and private schools to assist in meeting educational expenses. Senator Marty Golden is inviting all area parents and grandparents to join him in an effort to send a message to his colleagues in Albany that this tax credit is necessary.

Senator Marty Golden stated, "The students of New York, the families of New York and the schools of New York deserve the opportunity this tax credit offers. An education tax credit would significantly help all parents of school-aged children to pay for school tuition and other educational expenses including textbooks, tutoring, personal computers and educational software. It is an important investment for our children and for all New York families. This tax credit is a win-win plan which will bring the education of all students of New York to greater heights."
