Brooklyn- Parents of the student body of Brooklyn’s St. Edmund’s will join the grassroots movement in support of Senator Golden’s Education Tax Credit legislation which is presently before the New York State Legislature on Wednesday, February 8, 2006, at 7:00 p.m. in the school basement, within Church, located at 1902 Avenue T in Brooklyn.
Golden’s legislation would provide qualified taxpayers, parents and dependents of those grade K-12 attending elementary and secondary schools, or those receiving home instruction, an annual tax credit of up to $1500 per dependent or $3,000 per family. The income tax credit would be available to all parents of public, parochial and private schools to assist in meeting educational expenses.
Senator Marty Golden is inviting all area parents and grandparents to join him in an effort to send a message to his colleagues in Albany that this tax credit is necessary. A massive rally is planned for the steps of the State Capitol in Albany on Tuesday, February 14, 2006, where over 10,000 are expected to attend.
