Play Ball...senator Golden Secures Over $60,000 For Local Baseball And Sports Programs
Brooklyn- State Senator Marty Golden (R-C, 22nd District), today is announcing that he has secured over $60,000 in the 2007-2008 State Budget to support 26 local baseball and sports programs throughout the neighborhood. The funding has been awarded towards the purchase of supplies and equipment for the various teams.
Senator Marty Golden stated, "As the superstars of the Mets and Yankees are back on the field, wooing the crowds at both Shea and Yankee Stadium, so are the superstars and the talented youth of our community. This funding will go towards the purchase of new equipment and supplies to help grow our sports programs and to allow for our young players to have the best available opportunities to learn and to excel in sports. I am proud to support the efforts of the parents, the coaches and the players which will keep America’s past time, as well as other sports, alive throughout Brooklyn."
Golden continued, "I am confident that lessons of teamwork and good sportsmanship will be instilled in the minds of the local youth this season. These important lessons will make them better citizens within our society. I wish all the team’s the best of luck this season and who knows, maybe a future Hall of Famer or two is growing here in Brooklyn."
Senator Golden has granted funding to the following programs: the 68th Precinct Youth Council, the American Legion Baseball Program, the Brooklyn Children’s Baseball and Basketball Association, the Cadets Baseball Club, the Dyker Athletic Association, the Dyker Heights Knights Athletic Association, the Joe Torre Little League, the Kings Bay Youth Baseball, the Gravesend Athletic Association at Our Lady of Grace, Ted Meyerstein Baseball and the Parkville Youth Baseball and Football Program.
Senator Golden has also allocated funding to the following local parish sports programs: Good Shepherd, Our Lady of Guadalupe, Regina Pacis Baseball Program, Resurrection, St. Anselm’s, St. Athansius’s, St. Bernadette’s, St. Columba’s, St. Dominic’s, St. Ephrem’s, St. Francis Cabrini, St. Mark’s, St. Patrick’s, and St. Simon and St. Jude.
