Senate Aging Committee Chairman Marty Golden To Host Informational Senior Fairs In Conjunction With Celebration Of Older Americans Month

Brooklyn- State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C, 22nd District), Chairman of the New York State Senate Aging Committee, today is announcing that he will be hosting his 4th Annual series of senior fairs throughout the community to offer local seniors and their families an opportunity to learn of the services available to assist them with their property taxes, their prescription drug coverage, their personal safety, and their health.

The senior fairs will feature information and assistance offered by various City agencies including: the New York City Department for the Aging, the New York City Department of Environmental Protection, the Department of Sanitation, the New York City Department of Health, the New York City Police Department and the EPIC Program among other agencies. Free blood pressure screenings will also be available and lunch will be served.

The events are as follows:

1) Thursday, May 25, 2006, 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
St. Patrick’s Church, 9511-4th Avenue

2) Thursday, June 1, 2006, 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
St. Columba’s Church, 2245 Kimball Street

3) Thursday, June 8, 2006, 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Senator Golden will be discussing the issue of the rising cost of prescription drugs and providing an update to the seniors in attendance of his legislative efforts in Albany including efforts to protect the elderly against fraud and abuse.
