Senator Golden Applauds Governor Pataki’s Plan To Establish An Education Tax Credit

Albany- State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn) today was encouraged to hear Governor George Pataki’s push for an education tax credit.

Governor Pataki’s plan mirrors legislation sponsored by Senator Golden (S.1939-A) for an income tax credit. Both the Pataki and Golden proposals help all parents of public, parochial and private schools. A parent with eligible expenses would request a credit when they file their State income tax form.

Senator Marty Golden stated, “The students of New York, the families of New York and the schools of New York deserve the opportunity this tax credit offers. An education tax credit would significantly help all parents of school-aged children to pay for school tuition and other educational expenses including textbooks, tutoring, personal computers and educational software. This tax credit is a win-win plan which will bring the education of all students of New York to greater heights.”

Senator Golden continued, “On behalf of all New York State parents, I will work with Governor George Pataki to create a tax credit here in New York State that will meet the needs of our students and that will make education more affordable here in the Empire State.”
