Senator Golden Continues To Work With Transportation Department To Maintain Safety On Local Streets

Brooklyn- State Senator Marty Golden (R-C-I, 22nd District) today is announcing that in response to his request, the Department of Transportation has agreed to install a traffic light at the intersection of 10th Avenue and 67th Street, upgrading the existing All-way Stop control. The work is scheduled to be completed by May 31, 2006.

"For the vehicular and pedestrian safety at this intersection, I am pleased to have worked with the Department of Transportation to have this safety measure installed," said Senator Marty Golden, "Each time a dangerous and busy intersection is approved for a traffic light, the welfare of the entire community is enhanced. Today, we have the opportunity to see safer streets."

Further, Senator Golden has written to the Department of Transportation and has requested that the dividing yellow lines along Colonial Road, between 88th Street and 75th Street, be reviewed and repainted. Senator Golden has observed that the lines along Colonial Road are fading and are very light, causing it to be unknown as to where the lanes of each direction end and begin.

Senator Golden stated, "I urge residents of the community to contact my office regarding other two-way streets and avenues which may have fading or faded yellow lines. We must insure that our streets are maintained to the highest standards in order to insure safety for both pedestrians and vehicles throughout our neighborhood."

Senator Marty Golden is encouraging local residents to report the presence of potholes, street cave-ins, and streets which require paving, which he will then report to the Brooklyn Department of Transportation, as part of his pothole survey.
