Senator Golden To Seniors: Don't Forget To Sign Up For New Medicare Program
Brooklyn- Senator Martin J. Golden (R, C, I- Brooklyn), Chairman of the New York State Senate Aging, today is reminding senior citizens that there are only 12 days left to sign up for the new Medicare Prescription Drug Program.
Enrollment for Medicare Part D will end on May 15, 2006 and will not be available again to those that are eligible until November 15, 2006. Signing up in between those dates may result in paying a penalty.
State Senator Marty Golden stated, "I am today reminding all older adults of the fact that on May 15th, the enrollment period for the new Medicare Part D program will be closed and registration beyond that date will cause seniors to pay a penalty fee. My office stands ready to assist those in gathering the appropriate information so that they may make an informed choice that addresses their health care needs."
Senator Marty Golden hosted numerous sign up events throughout his district throughout the winter and spring. Anyone with questions regarding eligibility or the registration process, is encouraged to call either of Senator Golden’s district offices at (718) 238-6044 or (718) 627-3659 or the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services at 1-800-633-4227.
