Nozzolio Secures $250,000 For Village Of Wolcott

Wolcott– New York State Senator Michael F. Nozzolio today announced that he has secured $250,000 in state funding for the Village of Wolcott to aid in the recovery effort from last month’s flooding disaster. Senator Nozzolio recently met with Wolcott Mayor John Monson to tour areas of the Village and observe the destruction.

“The Village of Wolcott was hit hard by last month’s storm and this funding will help cover the expenses for a very costly cleanup,” said Senator Nozzolio. “I am extremely pleased to secure this funding to aid the Village in making much-needed repairs.”

Wayne County sustained over $1 million in damages to roads and infrastructure as a result of the extensive flooding. In Wolcott, East Port Bay Road and two bridges were washed out by the flooding. The Village of Wolcott was deemed not eligible for federal disaster money, causing concern among local officials about escalating repair and maintenance costs.

Village of Wolcott Mayor John Monson said, “On the behalf of the residents of the Village of Wolcott, I would like to thank Senator Nozzolio for securing this generous state funding to aid us in our recovery. This funding will help us rebuild our roads, bridges and other infrastructure damaged in last month’s flooding. We greatly appreciate Senator Nozzolio’s assistance and support.”

“After observing the absolute devastation in Wolcott, I aggressively worked to secure this funding to help restore the Village without putting the burden on the local property taxpayers,” concluded Senator Nozzolio.
