“This funding that Senator Nozzolio was instrumental in assisting Cherry Ridge obtain is directly in line with our mission to enhance the independence, physical and spiritual well being of older adults,” shared Betty Mullin-DiProsa, President and CEO of St. Ann’s Community. “We are so grateful to Senator Nozzolio for his continual support of Cherry Ridge and St. Ann’s Community.”

The funding will be used to help Cherry Ridge pay for a state-of-the-art Personal Emergency Response System (PER System) that will allow staff to provide the highest level of resident safety and security. The PER system features:

  • Alarm pendants for each resident allowing the individual to call for assistance from any location on campus.
  • Voice-to-voice capacity within all of the living units to allow staff to communicate with a resident who has summonsed help but is unable to reach a telephone. These sophisticated communication systems allow staff to assess an emergency situation immediately allowing for a quick response time if emergency personnel are needed.
  • A “wander guard” system to allow residents in the dementia care unit to have free and unrestricted movement within the unit while ensuring their personal safety. Ten second delays on the alarmed fire exits and other specialized features give staff the ability to keep residents from getting in harms way in the least restrictive manner.
  • Integrated fire detection systems in the residences that surpass code requirements by tying smoke detectors directly into the PER system. In combination with a pager system that is integral to the communications components of the PER system, Cherry Ridge will have a heightened ability to watch for fire potential and respond quickly to all threats.
