Senator Nozzolio Announces The Senate Has Ensured Snowmobile Trail Funds

Michael F. Nozzolio

Albany—State Senator Michael F. Nozzolio (R-Fayette) today announced that the Senate has protected in its budget New York State’s Snowmobile Trail Funds. Governor Pataki’s proposed plan would have transferred $2.5 million from New York State’s Snowmobile Trail Fund to the State’s general fund.

“New York State offers exceptional winter recreation and some of the best snowmobiling in the county. I am very pleased that the Senate has agreed to ensure that the Snowmobile fund remains dedicated to trail maintenance and development,” said Senator Nozzolio.

Senator Nozzolio heard from hundreds of constituents who vehemently opposed Governor Pataki’s measure which would have decreased New York State snowmobile funding. Throughout his tenure, Senator Nozzolio has been a strident supporter of the Central-Finger Lakes Region’s snowmobile enthusiasts and secured nearly $250,000 in State grant funding for snowmobile trail maintenance and local law enforcement efforts in 2004. The New York State Snowmobile Fund’s purpose is to maintain those trails and ensure snowmobilers from across New York State can enjoy them for years to come.

“The New York Snowmobile fund should continue to solely be used to support the over 10,000 miles of public snowmobile trails in New York, snowmobile safety education programs and enforcement of New York State snowmobile laws,” concluded Nozzolio.
