Hispanic Ministers Meeting To Discuss Immigration

Ruben Diaz

To evaluate the Great Immigrant March held on Saturday, April 1st and to discuss future plans of action, New York State Senator Reverend Ruben Diaz will hold a meeting on Thursday, April 6, 2006 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, with the New York Hispanic Clergy Organization at 910 East 172nd Street in The Bronx (Corner of Southern Boulevard).

Senator Reverend Diaz will take note of the widespread support for and turnout at Saturday’s Great Walk in Solidarity With Immigrants which he organized. He will discuss plans and advice for groups and individuals who attended the rally on how they might best carry this message to those elected officials who are in a position to protect undocumented immigrants with fair legislation, as well as discuss the Ministers’ participation in the upcoming immigrant rally organized by Local 1199 and other Unions on April 10, 2006.

According to Senator Diaz, "The 12 million undocumented immigrants who came to the United States simply to look for work and live a better life deserve a better future than the draconian measures that await them in the HR4437 bill and the planned punishments for those who help them. This is our window of opportunity to help our immigrant community and offer them the chance to live the same American dream that other immigrants throughout our nation’s history have been offered."
