Senator Saland Announces Additional State Aid For Columbia County For Property Tax Relief

Senator Steve Saland (R,C Poughkeepsie), today announced that the 2006-07 state budget awaiting passage this week includes a $306,892 increase of state aid for cities, towns and villages in Columbia County to help ease the burden of local property taxes. Combined, the proposed additional revenue aid for cities, towns and villages in the county totals $1,627,998.

The City of Hudson will receive an aid increase of more than 24 percent, while towns and villages in Columbia County will receive an approximate 20 percent increase in local aid.

"I am pleased that we will be able to provide overburdened taxpayers with increases in funding to our local municipalities," said Senator Saland. "The services they deliver are essential to the quality of life we enjoy in Columbia County."
