Senator Saland Secures $42,000 In Funding For The Town Of Greenport Police And Rescue Departments
Senator Steve Saland (R,C Poughkeepsie) was recognized today for securing $42,000 in funding for the Town of Greenport Police Department and Rescue Squad.
Funding will be designated as follows:
$22
,000 for the Greenport Police DepartmentWill be used to purchase a replacement police vehicle for patrol function.
$20,000 for the Greenport Rescue Squad
Will be used to purchase a mass casualty incident trailer and equipment.
"The Town of Greenport Police Department greatly appreciates Senator Saland’s continuing support of local law enforcement, which has allowed our agency to receive these funds which will be used for public safety," said Police Commissioner Thomas Nolan. "The vehicle will replace a 1999 police vehicle and is needed to maintain our patrol coverage. Senator Saland's support assists our efforts to better protect the residents of our town."
"The Town of Greenport Rescue Squad would like to thank Senator Saland for his ongoing commitment in helping our emergency service providers," said John Onufrychuk Jr., President of the Board of Directors of the Greenport Rescue Squad, Inc. "This trailer will be able to respond to any mass casualty incidents, not only in Greenport, but Columbia County as well, should our assistance be requested, and will be vital in providing life-saving services. With these funds, we should be able to equip the trailer with enough supplies to treat at least 40 patients. We thank Senator Saland for his assistance."
