Legislaton To Ban Outdoor Wood Furnaces In The Summer
State Senator Thomas P.Morahan has introduced legislation in the New York State Senate that calls for the regulation of outdoor wood furnaces. The proposal calls for a ban on the use of outdoor boilers in the summer. The proposed regulation would also restrict use of the devices within 200 feet of a residence and 700 feet of a hospital, school, day-care center, nursing home, park or recreational facility.
"At the suggestion of the Rockland County Board of Health, I am seeking regulate these devices year-round, and ban them in the summerbecause of the enormous amounts of smoke they produce, " said Morahan.
