Senate Successful In Efforts To Repeal DMV Inspection Sticker Program

Thomas P. Morahan

State Senator Thomas P. Morahanannounced that efforts by the New York State Senate were successful in getting the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) to withdraw a recent policy regarding the expiration of inspection stickers.

The new policy, which went into effect in January, provided that inspection stickers would have expired in the first, second or third portion of the month in the year following inspection, depending on the date of issuance.

"I’m pleased that pressure from the Senate on the DMV has resulted in a correction of this major blunder, which only made the motor vehicle inspection process more complicated and cumbersome," said Senator Morahan.

Anyone who received a new inspection sticker within the last six weeks that has beginning, middle, or end of the month inspection times now can wait until the end of the month (as has always been the case) to get their vehicles inspected.
