Senator Arranges Historic Meeting With Top State Legislative Leaders On 'fiscal Relief

Senator Thomas P. Morahan announed that he and Assemblyman Kenneth Zebrowski had arranged and participated in aspecial meeting in AlbanybetweenSenate President & Majority Leader Joseph Bruno, Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, Senate & Assembly senior finance/education staff, and leaders from Haverstraw, Stony Point and the North Rockland School District.

The purpose of the meeting, was to present state legislative leaders with the facts and circumstances regarding the unique fiscal crisis facing North Rockland taxpayers as a result of the Mirant assessment rulings. Participants in the unique Albany meeting presented the details of their presentation to the Speaker and Majority Leader.

Senator Morahan: "I must compliment the presentation of the school superintendent and the eloquence of both town supervisors in making the case for substantial state help. Their input was critical as we prepare for the introduction of a budget in January. The leadership gave strong indication of their recognition of the problems faced by North Rockland taxpayers, as they directed senior staff in both houses to proceed to ascertain solutions and offer suggestions for relief."

Assemblyman Zebrowski: "This meeting is emblematic of the joint efforts of Senator Morahan and I to seek a successful conclusion to the fiscal crisis facing the residents of Stony Point and Haverstraw."
