Senator Urges Residents To Protect Their Privacy
Senator Thomas P. Morahanis urging Hudson Valley residents to take action to prevent unwanted calls by telemarketing companies to their cell phones. On February 1, 2006, millions of cell phone numbers were in the process of being released to telemarketing companies.
"These annoying telemarketing calls may 'eat up' your cell phone minutes and could cost you money. You can prevent these calls and protect your time, privacy and cell phone costs by listing your cell phone with the National Do NOT Call registry," said Morahan.
People can register by calling 1-888-382-1222 or, on-line at www.donotcall.gov.
Telemarketers have a 31day grace period to remove their number from the calling list.
"Take a few minutes of your time NOW and block your cell phone number from unwanted and potentially costly telemarketing calls for 5 years," urged the Senator.
