Senator Dale M. Volker Announces Additional $227,564 In State Funding For Western New York Libraries

(ALBANY, N.Y.) Senator Dale M. Volker (R-C-I, Depew) today announced that he has secured an additional $227,564 for several western New York libraries to sustain existing programs and services. These funds will enable our libraries to continue in providing high quality services to their patrons. Senator Volker secured this state funding as part of the Senate-Assembly Budget Plan and is pending the approval of Governor George E. Pataki.

"We owe it to ourselves to ensure that our libraries are properly funded so that our residents can remain up-to-date on the various situations occurring around the world and in our own nation," said Senator Dale M. Volker. "We all have a vested interest in becoming better educated and informed. With limited financial resources available, our libraries continue an enormous educational asset and provides outstanding services to our families in a cost-effective manner. Libraries are multi-faceted, that often incorporate Internet services and act as a clearinghouse on a numbers of subject matters."

Additionally, the State Senate fought for, and included with the Senate-Assembly Budget an increase of $14 million in construction funding. Currently, the State of New York provides $800,000 in construction funding.
