Senator Dale M. Volker Secures $50,000 For Community Action Of Wyoming County
(Albany, NY) Senator Dale M. Volker (R-I-C, Depew) today announced that he has secured $50,000 to support Community Action of Wyoming County’s center-based childcare program. Senator Volker secured these funds as part of the adopted 2006-2007 state budget.
"In today’s world, there is a critical need for quality childcare and this $50,000 state grant will allow Community Action of Wyoming County to move forward with their plans for a new home for their childcare program," said Senator Dale M. Volker. "Community Action of Wyoming Count and I share a common belief that high quality childcare is pivotal for children of working families, and we must invest and ensure affordable childcare that enables them to work and help their children grow and learn during their formative years."
Martin D. Mucher, Executive Director of Community Action of Wyoming County said, "We have finally found a permanent home for our childcare program and the money that Senator Volker has secured for renovations of our childcare facility cannot come at a better time. We now will be able to expedite the rehabilitation of the former elementary school at St. Michael’s in Warsaw to accommodate specific needs relating to childcare. The $50,000 state grant will be used by Community Action of Wyoming County to rehabilitate the former St. Michael’s Elementary School in Warsaw. This will prevent the closing and loss of 30 childcare slots in Wyoming County, and now create a permanent home for Community Action of Wyoming County’s center-based childcare program. Additionally, the reuse of a closed elementary school will occur.
