William T. Stachowski

(Albany, NY) Senator Dale M. Volker (R-C-I, Depew) today announced increased state funding for Cities, Towns, and Villages located in Erie, Wyoming, Livingston and Ontario Counties. These financial resources have been agreed upon by the State Senate and State Assembly, and will depend on final approval by Governor George E. Pataki.

In addition, the budget will include $25 million in incentive aid for communities that share local services to increase efficiency and reduce local government expenses for property taxpayers.

"Local governments continue to provide outstanding services that make a positive difference in the lives of our residents," said Senator Dale M. Volker. "Our budget negotiations have yielded a substantial increase for our cities, towns and villages in western New York. Coupled with the State Senate’s budget priority of reducing the tax burden on our citizens, these additional state funds can assist local governments in mitigating any property tax increases."
