Lanza's Legislation Exempting Military Personnel From Personal Income Tax Passes Senate
The New York State Senate today passed legislation, S.3574, sponsored by Senator Andrew Lanza, that would exempt military personnel serving in combat zones from paying New York State Personal Income Tax.
America’s military personnel serving in combat zones put their lives on the line to protect our nation’s freedoms. This legislation would exempt these men and women from paying New York State personal income taxes. These brave individuals, serving in foreign lands for extended periods of time away from their families, make enormous sacrifices so we may enjoy peace and prosperity. This bill shows New York’s gratitude for the sacrifices they make to protect this country.
Senator Lanza said, "These brave people put their lives on the line every day, there isn't enough we can do to support them. This is a small way of honoring the sacrifices they make."
The bill remains in the Assembly Ways and Means Committee.
