Senator Andrew Lanza And Assemblyman Lou Tobacco Support Legislation Requiring Gps Devices To Be Issued With Orders Of Protection
Senator Andrew Lanza and Assemblyman Louis R. Tobaccoannounced yesterday they'll sponsor a bill newly proposed by District Attorney Daniel Donovan to require global positioning system devices be issued along with every order of protection. If a defendant comes close enough to a victim to violate the judge's order, it'll set off a beeper, which will make a call to 911. Defendants required to wear the bracelet also would be forced to pay the $4-a-day cost to lease the equipment.
