Senator Lanza To Attend Public Hearing On Governor’s Plan To Issue Drivers Licenses To Illegal Aliens

The Senate Committee on Veterans, Homeland Security and Military Affairs, and the Transportation Committee, of which Senator Lanza is a member, will hold a joint public hearing in Albany to discuss the Governor’s plan to issue drivers licenses to illegal aliens.

The hearing will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 15 in Hearing Room A of the Legislative Office Building in Albany. Participants expected to speak at the hearing include experts on national security and terrorism, representatives of law enforcement agencies, family members of victims of the 9/11 attacks, county clerks and other elected officials.

The Senate will act on legislation later this month to prohibit the state from issuing drivers licenses to illegal aliens. The legislation would continue the provision already in law that requires applicants for a drivers license to submit their social security number to obtain a New York State drivers license, or proof of authorized presence in the United States if a social security number cannot be provided.
