Senator Lanza Attends Governor's State Of The State Address In Joint Session Of The Legislature
This afternoon, Senator Andrew Lanza (R, I - Staten Island) attended Governor Eliot Spitzer’s State of the State message during a joint session of the New York State Legislature.
"Governor Spitzer has outlined some bold initiatives that the Senate has been fighting to implement over the years. I look forward to helping our new Governor implement these needed reforms, invest in education and health care, create quality jobs and provide much needed property tax relief to help the residents of Staten Island," said Senator Lanza.
"In the last several years, the Senate has proposed several ideas and reforms to make government more open and accountable - including a plan to clearly outline every dollar of spending in the State budget - to increase openness and transparency in State spending.
The Governor and the Assembly need to focus on theses priorities that affect working class families in Staten Island and throughout the State," stated Senator Lanza.
"The Senate’s property tax relief plan, of which I am a sponsor will provide New York State residents $7 billion in relief over the next two years. It is a proposal that will benefit all homeowners in Staten Island," said Senator Lanza.
"I will fight to ensure that this year’s budget provides much needed tax relief, invests in education, creates new jobs and will protect access to quality health care," Senator Lanza concluded.
