Senator Lanza Sponsors Legislation To Increase Income Levels For Eligible Epic Participants

Andrew J Lanza

Senator Andrew Lanza (R - Staten Island) is cosponsoring legislation that will increase the income levels for eligible participants in the elderly pharmaceutical insurance coverage (EPIC) program to $42,000 for single individuals and $65,000 for married couples.

The EPIC program, which offers prescription drug assistance, has helped many senior citizens who face high pharmaceuticals costs but do not qualify for Medicaid. Although this program has been very successful, there are still many seniors who are unable to afford pharmaceuticals essential to their health. Factors including income limitations, declining availability of employer-paid health insurance and caps on prescription coverage, are leaving many senior citizens unable to purchase the prescriptions they need.

Senator Andrew Lanza said, "This bill will allow more Staten Island seniors to have access to quality, affordable prescription drug coverage."
