Senator Fuschillo And Assemblyman Mcdonough Congratulate Bellmore Eagle Scout
Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District) and Assemblyman David G. McDonough (19th Assembly District) today congratulated Bellmore resident James O’Donnell on attaining the rank of Eagle Scout. James is a member of Troop 285 in Bellmore.
Senator Fuschillo and Assemblyman McDonough presented James with a resolution, passed by the State Senate, honoring his accomplishment.
To attain the rank of Eagle Scout, James completed two separate projects. He helped construct a memorial garden at the Merrick Train Station in honor of Dustin Freda, who was killed by a hit and run driver in August of 2001. James helped clean up the area, planted flowers in cement planters, and built and erected three wooden posts to hang the signs for the garden. James also helped beautify St. Barnabus Church in Bellmore by erecting a brick planter and planting two gardens near the handicapped entrance in the back of the church.
James recently graduated from Kennedy High School in Bellmore, and will be attending American University in Washington, DC this fall, where he plans to major in international relations.
"James is an incredibly bright and thoughtful young man who really cares about making a difference in this world, which are exactly the kind of qualities that the epitomize an Eagle Scout," said Senator Fuschillo. "We congratulate James and his family on this notable achievement and wish him continued success in the future."
